If you are visiting Parga city in Greece for a holiday, than a tour you can’t
miss is the one to the Paxos and Antiaxos islands.
Paxi or Paxoi (Παξοί) is the smallest island group within
the Ionian Islands. The largest islands are Paxos and nearby Antipaxos.
Antipaxos is famous for its wine and two of the finest sand beaches in the Ionian
Sea. The main town of Paxoi, and the seat of the municipality, is Gaios. In
Greek mythology, Poseidon created the island by striking Corfu with his
trident, so that he and his wife Amphitrite could have some peace and quiet.
Antipaxos (Αντίπαξος) is a small island about 3 km to the
south of Paxos. In 2011, the resident population of the island was 20. Largely
covered in vineyards, Antipaxos has several beaches and one harbour, Agrapidia.
It has three main beaches: Vrika (white sand), Mesovrika (pebbles) and Voutoumi
(pebbles) and it can be reached by 15-minute ride with a sea-taxi from the port
of Gaios in Paxos.
